On a related note, if you have read Foucault’s Pendulum by Umberto Eco, there is a whole lot of such studies. In fact the protagonists of the book contemplate on starting a “school of irrelevance” that could offer courses like mechanical avunculogratulation (inventing machines to greet uncles), tetrapylectomy (the art of splitting hair into four ways) and goes on to crowd psychology in the Sahara…

BTW, I wrote one glossary for Focault’s Pendulum some years back. If I find it, I shall make a soft copy of it and host it some where. It could add to your miseries …
